My cousin Jacob graduated from KU a few weeks ago, and we celebrated this weekend with a little bbq. It was great to see some of my cousins.
Boys Left to Right: Jacob, Patrick, William, and Michael
Girls Left to Right: Kelsey, Me, Emily, and Anna
When we were posing for this picture, Lola walked up and stood in front. Owen saw that, so he dropped whatever he was doing, and walked up and stood next to Anna. Or mostly behind her. Can you spot him? It was adorable. He didn't say a word, just stood with us and walked away when we were all done.
This is what he was doing the entire party. Sometimes, Olivia was riding in the stroller as he pushed it.
The week before the party, my parents found the book "The Little Engine that Could" at their house, with Jacob's name written in it. He must have left it there when he was around 3. So, they gave it back to him at the party. And he read it to Lola and Anasofia.
Congratulations Jacob!

Fire Truck Jammies
Owen has been asking for fire truck jammies since Wednesday night at bed time. The problem is, he doesn't have fire truck jammies!
Well, now he does! Mimi found some today and dropped them off before bedtime tonight. None of us thought that it would be a problem for Olivia, but she was jealous. So, they each wore one piece. Neither complained about sharing - which was surprising.
And yes, Owen and Olivia still wear long sleeve jammies. They only have light muslin blankets in their beds, and they don't really use them. So for most of the year, they still wear long jammies.
We had an awesome day with Grandma and Grandpa today. Crown Center, Union Station, and a little visit to Jiggle Jam (a family music concert outside at Crown Center). I didn't take any pictures, but it was a great time!

According to Owen and Olivia - Part 2
This isn't really a post about what they say, but more about funny things they do.
O&O are always jumping on the couch, and I'm always telling them to "Be Careful. I don't want you to fall down and bonk your head" (which of course they have done before). Here's how they translate that for their babies:
Owen likes to hide. He doesn't quite understand hide and seek, so when he goes to hide, he yells "Hiding! Hiding! Hiding!". He's usually in the pantry, which is where Olivia looks first. Then she yells "Find you!".
Owen is in a phase where he must delay bedtime (it rotates, it was Olivia's phase a few weeks ago). He asks for more water, more cars, a big bus, a new woobie, and on and on and on. How can you resist when he asks "Night Night Sissy?". He wants us to take him into Olivia's room so he can say good night again. Super cute, except at 3am. I wasn't sure how to respond when he asked that at 3am last week.
The only thing that gets them in the bath is a promise to keep the water running. They love to play with cups.

Recap
In between restoration companies and contractor estimates, we took a break and headed to McPherson. It was a quick trip, but totally worth it!
We played at the park. Olivia likes to see her face in the camera when I take the picture.
I love this because I think I actually got both kids to smile. And Justin looks like an idiot.
A parade is better with a doughnut in one hand and popcorn in the other
Owen prepped to jump with glee at the fire trucks
First carnival corn dog. The soda is not hers.
Owen visiting a mini fire truck
Moving on to some random pics...
Olivia in a marching band by herself
Owen helping Uncle Justin move rocks
The bed Lola made for Owen. Doesn't it look like he's being tortured? He loved it. And yep, he's even buckled in.
Happy Mother's Day to My Mom, Sister, Mother-In-Law, Sister-In-Law, and all the other Mother's out there! My Mother's Day was a little unconventional, with Justin at work, and the kids at Mimi and Papa's so I could work on cleaning up the flood. But it was still a fantastic day!

Stuck in the Toy Department
On our way home from our regular Sunday night family dinner, we had to make a tornado warning stop in Target. All of the customers and employees were in the back of the store - near the toys, of course. Owen and Olivia thought it was pretty fun. We ran in quickly through a downpour, so we are all soaked, and Owen didn't have any shoes on!
Then we got home, and not 30 minutes later, water started pouring into the basement. Remember this - The Flood? Well, this is now the third time we've had major flooding. But this is the first time since we relocated our living room and playroom to the basement. Ugh!
We are working on cleanup, waiting on the water restoration people, waiting on the plumber, and trying to stay calm. We salvaged everything, everything except probably the carpet. So that's the good news.
Hope the rest of the week goes better than the start!
