Weekend at Mickey's

It's cousin Mickey's 1st birthday!  So, Owen, Olivia and I headed to Parsons yesterday.  Justin had to work, so he stayed home and attended Lola's 4th birthday party.  Here's a few shots from our weekend.

First, we watched Daddy's Saturday morning news report.  This is really how they sat down to watch.

Then we went to the park to burn off some energy before the long car ride.  O&O wanted to try out the big swings - they did pretty well!

We took a few toys in the car in their backpacks, so here they are when we arrived!

The birthday boy (just up from nap) and Aunt Erica (baby girl due in June!)

The birthday walker.

Helping Mickey open his gifts

Testing out Mickey's new chairs

Exhaustion = Cranky Kids = Mommy gave in on binkies and woobies.  Owen's woobie has taken quite the beating these days.

There was cake smashing, except I think Olivia was messier than Mickey.  There was screaming at bedtime, there was Mommy sleeping on the floor next to the cribs.  There were twins up super early this morning, ready to play with Mickey's loot.  There were short naps on the way home, and crankiness over which movie to watch.  BUT, there was a whole lot of fun and family!  Can't wait to go back to Mickey's house to visit after the new baby arrives!

2 Year Stats

Owen:
Weight: 26 lbs, 6 oz (31%)
Height: 33.5 inches (26%)

Olivia:
Weight: 23 lbs, 4 oz (10%)
Height: 33 inches (27%)

At least this confirms my thoughts that O&O are shorter than every other 2 year old we meet!  And puts Olivia back on the normal curve for height - at her last appointment, she hadn't grown at all.

Jammie Exchange

No gender stereotype in our house!  Owen wanted the bee/flower jammies and Olivia wanted the tractor jammies.  Everyone was happy.

Birthday Party Hangover

Not the same type of hangover that I remember from college, but this one may be worse, since we had to get up this morning and get back to the real world right away.  Owen was up most of the night last night, possibly a little high on all of the sugar and new toys.  He asked to go outside at least 3 times around 1:30am.

Here are a few pictures from after the party madness was over.

I can't believe they're 4 already

Ok, Lindsay just told me it was just 2 years ago that the twins were born, it only feels like 4.

Birthday weekend was pretty sweet though. I'm hoping the 2 day bender of family, toys, and sugar will buy us a few nights of good sleep. I know I could sleep for about 36 hours, doubt the twins feel the same.

A Day Off

Justin and I both had today off (strange, for us!), so we headed to Crown Center and Union Station for a morning full of fun!

In the Animals Tails and Trails Exhibit, on the Spider Web.  Owen loved the whole exhibit.  Olivia was a little overwhelmed by the crowds.

Then we went to visit the trains at Union Station.  There were only a few Amtrak cars, but they still loved it!

But then we found their favorite....the model train exhibit!

We ended with some D'Bronx pizza which was fantastic.  We even kept them awake the entire way home before nap, which I would say makes it a fairly successful trip!  Even if we did lose a binkie and woobie sometime during our adventure!

According to Owen and Olivia

"Hawk Chalk".  4 syllables are apparently too many, so they have shortened Rock Chalk Jayhawk to "Hawk Chalk".  Owen asks to wear his Hawk Chalk shirt all the time!

"Coffee".  We must drink too much of it.  Owen drives his matchbox cars through the imaginary Starbucks drive thru.  He tells us who is driving the car, and that they are getting coffee.  i.e. "Papa.  Coffee.  Bye bye! Vrooooom"

Counting.  Olivia counts to 3 before she slides or jumps.  Sometimes, she gets the numbers right, and sometimes she counts "two - three - two - go!"

"Two".  Since we've been practicing their response to "How old will you be on your birthday?", they now think everyone is "2".  So, happy 2nd birthday to Papa and Aunt Kelsey last week.  This reminds me of when Lola was this age, and I was pregnant with the twins.  She associated "2" with "2 babies", so whenever she was asked how old she was going to be, she would say "2 Babies!"

"Licious".  Short for Pinkalicious.  Basically the only book we read at bedtime these days.

"Baby" Dolls.  Finally, they have discovered baby dolls and want to take care of them.  Olivia loves putting her baby in her bed, covering her up, and saying "Night Night".  And they love carrying the babies around in their Easter baskets.

"Noodles" and "Rice". The only responses given when asked "What did you have for dinner?" or "What do you want for dinner?"

"Broccoli".  One of Olivia's favorite foods and favorite words.

"Chocolate".  Remember when I posted that I gave them chocolate frosting and graham crackers?  Or maybe I forgot to post that?  Well, big mistake.  Olivia now asks for chocolate at every snack.  I've at least switched her to Nutella after I fell for the healthy description on the commercials.  Now I've hidden the Nutella and the frosting so as not to provide a constant reminder of chocolate.

"Cues Clues".  Their version of Blues Clues - their new favorite show.  Shockingly, Blues Clues has now surpassed The Fresh Beat Band as the most requested in our house.  Especially once they discovered the Alphabet Train episode.
