Due Date!

I totally forgot to mention that yesterday was my due date! I doubt the doctor's would have let me go until my due date, but I can't imagine still being pregnant. And I feel like the babies have been home forever!

In honor of their due dates, a weight update (according to our baby scale at home)...
Olivia - 7 lbs 15 oz
Owen - 7 lbs 14 oz

Pool Day

It's been a fantastic, yet hot weekend. We picked up a blow up pool and some swim diapers and headed to the back yard. Considering the babies don't love their baths, we didn't have high hopes for swim time. But, after about an hour of getting ready, we had a great time (for about 20 minutes!).

Clearly, the swim diapers didn't work out

We have had a weekend full of barbecues as well. Thanks to the Lichtenauers for having us last night, the Bakalars for having us tonight, and my parents for having us over tomorrow night. We appreciate the extra hands and the free meals!

DVR

I admit we watch too much tv. We can't actually watch shows at their actual air time, so we rely on our dvr, which recently stopped working. I called AT&T on Monday and a tech came out today. Here's how my phone call went with the tech before he arrived -

Tech: It says in your file that you have very important recordings on your dvr, is that correct?
Me: Um, that seems like harsh language, but I still haven't been able to watch the Grey's Anatomy 2 hour season finale.
Tech: So, it's going to be ok if I delete everything?

And in the end, he had to replace our dvr, and we lost everything. All 50 reruns of The Office that I watch when there is nothing on. The Grey's season finale. The movies we recorded while we had a free trial of a movie channel.

I suppose this isn't the end of our lives, they did give us a dvr with 3 times as much storage as the previous. We will move on, eventually....

Summertime

It's time to ditch the long sleve onesies and put on something cool.

But they slept through it all anyway.

Happy Birthday Babies!

I can't believe they are already one month old! In honor of their birthday, the babies threw an all-nighter. I explained that they have about 2o years and 11 months before it is appropriate to stay up all night to celebrate a birthday, but they didn't quite understand! I have caught up on sleep with some naps today. Hopefully Justin is not falling asleep on the job right now.

It seems as though our posts have been mostly regarding screaming and sleeping, so here are a few positive moments in our lives!

1. Both babies weighed about 6 1/2 lbs last week! They are getting big! They don't get officially measured again for a few weeks. Both are almost outgrowing their preemie clothes, and we gave up on preemie diapers as well.

2. On Tuesday, all four of us went to Heritage and walked around the lake. It was perfect. All would be perfect if neither Justin nor I needed to work and we could just spend quality moments like that as a family!

3. On Wednesday night, we had a last minute family dinner at my parents. It was so great to spend time with them, and watch Lola interact with the babies. She always tries to give equal time to each baby, first holding one and then moving to the other. Plus she carries around her doll and feeds and burps it!

4. I just got back from walking to Starbucks with the babies. This was a great plan until I drank too much coffee and then got a side cramp on the way home. Ha, clearly coffee was not the best choice!

5. Tomorrow night, Justin and I are going to a wedding. Which means we are leaving the babies with Justin's parents. It will be great to get out, and I am sure the grandparents are looking forward to some time with the babies!

Hopefully more pictures after the weekend! I have less than 2 weeks left of maternity leave. Let me know if you want to come visit us!

Screaming

Woke up at 7 to the sound of screams vaulting from Olivia's mouth.  It's now 11, don't know what the hell happened. Oh wait, bath time.  Owen peed a pretty amazing arc of urine from the tub to the sink.  That's good for at least 10 points for distance.

But Chipotle is on the way right now, things will be better then.

That's all for now.  Have a great day.

Adventures

Justin mentioned we had a very busy week. I'll stick to pictures for most of this post....

On Thursday I went out for pizza for our friend David's birthday. Owen and Olivia met the Chi O girls for the first time! They babies very well behaved and we had a great time!

Then, on Friday, my Aunt Debbie, and cousins Anna and Emily came over. I remember when Emily was this little, so it is so much fun to see her with our little ones!
Today, Olivia attended her first bridal shower! We all four headed to Parsons for Aunt Erica's shower. Owen stayed with the boys, and Olivia and I headed out with the girls. We are so excited for the big wedding in July! The babies were great in the car for almost 3 hours each way. We weren't quite ready for an overnight, but I'm glad we went!

Erica's Bridesmaids (missing Danyel)

Wow, that sounds like an exhausting few days just writing about it! Which means I am off to bed. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

It's been a crazy week.  That's my excuse for the lack of posts for the past couple of days.  Tonight Donny, Daina and Grady came over to meet Owen and Olivia.  I hope they don't regret this decision.  The great news is they brought food.  So thanks for that.

Tomorrow we are planning on driving down to Parsons to visit my sister.  I say planning because we'll have to see how tonight goes.  Wish us luck.

Mother's Day II

Here are some pictures of our Mother's Day festivities with the Kokoruda side of the family. We had some very delicious take out over at Justin and Kelsey's new place.

Happy Mother's Day

Hope everyone is having a great Mother's Day.  I started mine early by making a big breakfast for my Mom and Lindsay and my sister.  We also went out for a nice lunch. A photo session followed before everybody headed for home.  It was great having some company, and some help, for a few days.  I say that even though nobody really volunteered for some of the overnight feedings.  I guess you get what you pay for, and a free lunch doesn't go that far.
Don't they all look so happy?
Loving grandmotherhood.
Silly faces.

Lola's post

Hi, this is Lola, Owen and Olivia's cousin.  I've hacked into uncle Justin and aunt Linney's blog.  I got to see Owen and Olivia for the first time the other day.  Here's how it went.

Ok, my first time holding a baby, hope it doesn't poop on me.

Ok, I can do this, but I'm also watching Max and Ruby right now on the TV.  I'm learning to multi-task.

Yeah! Holding a baby is fun! Despite my mom's hobo jeans.

Ok, I'm bored and hungry now. I'll eat baby Olivia's head.

That's all for now.

Another homecoming?

Sounds like Owen is making some great progress at the hospital and may be on the way home.  He has some tests to get to tomorrow morning, but after that he could be headed out.  He removed his own feeding tube 3 times last night.  They've decided not to put it back in for now.  He's been taking his feedings pretty well. Let's hope that continues.

Olivia is also doing great.  She's eating well.  Although she does get a bit of stuffy nose every once and a while.  We've been trying out the new snotsucker. Snotsucker is a fun word.

And so it begins...

We made it through Olivia's first two nights at home. The first night, we woke her on schedule every 3 hours to change and feed. She did great. We were only up about 20 minutes each time, and then she went right back to sleep in her crib. The 2nd night was not quite as smooth. She woke up prior to each feed, and wasn't too excited to go back to sleep. She has a stuffy nose, and it appears that sleeping flat on her back does not help. Luckily, Justin picked up a super snot sucker today and hopefully she'll feel more comfortable soon!

Owen is still a little pokey, but he is getting better. He is is taking more full bottles, which was unheard of just a few days ago. Justin takes care of his morning feeding, I take 2 in the afternoon/evening (with my Mom watching Olivia), and last night my Dad fed once as well. It is much harder to leave him at the hospital now that Olivia is home. I try to explain how great she has it here, but I'm not quite sure he cares!

I'll leave you with a few pictures.....

Owen in a hat that actually fits....thanks Dayna for their perfect hats! You are amazing!

Homecoming

Olivia is home!

She made the big leap of moving home.  One of the easiest moves I've ever helped out with.  She is doing very well, and we are trying our best to not dote on her too much.  We're also making sure to visit Owen at the hospital often.  Grandmas and Grandpas are helping out with his visitations as well.  We think he'll join us here pretty soon, so that will be wonderful.  Here are a few pics of Olivia's big day.

The Red Roof Inn

This morning Lindsay and I went up to the NICU around 11.  We grabbed the sign in sheet, flipped to page 18. To our surprise, there were some strange names on the sheet.  Owen and Olivia had been moved downstairs.  They are now in the progressive care nursery, or PCN.  Today there was only one other baby in there, so it was pretty quiet.

There's only one nurse down there.  She was great with the kids and us.  She joked that the NICU was like the Marriott, the PCN is closer to the Red Roof Inn. She coached Lindsay a little bit on bottle feeding Owen.  He took down 28 ml of his formula, which is a huge improvement.  Olivia took down her whole bottle of about 40ml in 10 minutes.  She should be doing her car seat test this afternoon.  If she keeps eating well, she'll be the winner in the race to come home.  The PCN nurse thinks it will be Monday.  We'll see.  Have a great weekend.
