It's Broken

So, Justin did this.  He made it through a week of mountain biking in the Rocky Mountains and came down to the flat lands and then broke his ankle mountain biking.  He's calling this payback for when I had my gallbladder removed.

He broke it on Wednesday, and when I picked the kids up from school, I told them Daddy hurt his leg and was wearing a big boot.

Owen's response: "Is Daddy wearing my tractor boots?  I don't want him to wear my boots".

And later that evening, when Justin was holed up on the couch Olivia said:
"Daddy can't eat dinner because he can't walk upstairs"

And Owen later..
"Walk slowly, Daddy.  That's what I do when I have an owie".

So, here's to a few weeks of working around crutches and a walking boot.

Breckenridge!

If you follow me on instagram, or just see the instagram feed to the right, then you know we were on vacation last week.  We spent the week in Breckenridge with Mimi, Papa, Aunt Kelsey, Uncle Justin, Lola and Hudson!  While we all admit that vacation with 4 kids is work, we had an absolute blast!

We....

Rode the gondola

Loved the bumpies on the gondola (when the gondola passes a pole)

dressed the same as our cousins

celebrated Mimi's birthday

fed the fish

held hands

went shopping

relaxed

played golf

put our feet in the stream

finished off Mimi's birthday cake

took our babies for a ride on the gondola

watched Papa's iPad

yep, we rode the gondola some more (it's free, why not?!)

fed the fish some more

celebrated My birthday

What an adventure!  We are home and exhausted, but all of the toys are put away and the laundry is done. Back to reality tomorrow.

Gymnastics

Today was the first gymnastics class!  Unfortunately, Owen was home sick today(though he was hesitant about gymnastics in the first place).

We went to watch Lola's class on Tuesday so they would know what to expect.  Olivia has been sooooo excited and has been wearing her leotard every evening.  I picked her up at school, and she was on the playground.  She stood at the top of some playground equipment and yelled "gymnastics!!".

She got even more excited when one of her best friends from school walked in and was in her class!  So, Olivia and Taylor were little buddies and went into class together.  Their class has 7 kids (4 girls, 3 boys) and 2 teachers.

Olivia did great.  She had the biggest smile on her face the entire time.  Loved every minute!

Professional Pictures

It seems like forever since we had pictures taken, so we did a mini session a few weeks ago with Jessica Strom Photography.  In just 15 minutes she got some great shots!

Owen was pouty in the beginning, but got warmed up after a few....

The Farmstead

We made our first trip to the Farmstead last weekend.  It was an oddly chilly day, but O&O still loved it.

We have never even approached the pony rides in previous years, but this year, we walked over for Lola to ride.  I asked O&O if they wanted to ride.  Olivia responded with a clear "Yes" and walked over to get in line while Mimi bought her ticket.  I didn't think there was any way she would go through with it, but she climbed right up there and off they went.  What a brave girl!  Owen was much more interested in pulling the wagon.

Camping

Here it goes.  A night full of blog posts.  Time to catch up!

On a random Wednesday(Justin's weekend), I came home from work with the kids to find tent up in the backyard and new sleeping bags for O&O.

We cooked hot dogs over the open fire, made s'mores and then Justin and the kids slept in the tent.  I had my doubts it would be successful, plus really, who thinks I would sleep in a tent on a work night?

After struggling to get them to calm down, I think they finally got quiet around 10.  Olivia was up once in the night to go to the bathroom and I asked if she wanted to sleep inside.  She looked at me like I was nuts and went right back to the tent for the rest of the night.

Memories!
