Ups and Downs

Our week has been filled with ups and downs, such as....(sorry, this list has a lot of bodily functions). 

1.  Owen went potty on the potty seat.
2.  Owen vomits a lot.
3.  Owen goes potty on the potty seat again. 
4.  Owen goes potty on the floor.
5.  Olivia vomits a lot.
6.  Owen bit Olivia. 

Hoping for a weekend free of vomit and biting. 

Transcript of a Parent Update

As most of you know, Justin and I don't see each other during the week.  We talk for a few minutes each afternoon for an update, and they are getting funnier and funnier as Owen and Olivia get chatty.  Here's how today's call went:

Me: I really hope you didn't brush their teeth this morning. 
J: Why?
Me: Because Owen was brushing his potty with his toothbrush last night.  I made a note for myself to buy new toothbrushes, but forgot to note to you to not use these. 
J: No worries, they did not brush teeth this morning. 
J: But Owen did also put some empty medicine syringes in the potty this morning too.  Clearly, this is a problem.  

J: I hid the rain coats because they refused to wear other coats when they saw the rain coats. It's nice outside, so I let them wear the rain coats to the gym. 

J: We went to the car wash.  Owen says hello and bye-bye to the washing equipment each time it goes by. 

Me: That reminds me, Olivia thinks people working the drive thru (i.e. starbucks) should talk to her.  So she also says hello and goodbye to them.  Oh, and when did she learn that McDonalds has fries?  We went through for a soda the other night and she asked for fries.  But then she only ate 2.
J: Maybe she was just pointing out that McDonald's has fries, not necessarily asking for them. 
Me: Good point.  But who wouldn't want fries?

Me: When Owen woke up in the middle of the night last night, he cried for you.  I told him you were sleeping.  That was not acceptable.  So, I lied and told him you were at work.  That was totally acceptable, but I feel bad for lying. 



Owen and Olivia are hilarious these days! 

Justin's work schedule is changing next week, and we'll have evenings together!  Yea!  So, we'll still be single parenting most of the time, at least we'll have some time to catch up with each other each day!

Birthday Party!

Owen and Olivia attended a birthday party today for their friend Brady.  Brady's Mom and I went to high school together.  The party was at Wonderscope Children's Museum, which was perfect because the kids were so busy.

And we attempted to take a picture of all the little ones.  This is the best one I have - and Olivia is backwards, and Owen is eating blocks.  Awesome.

Valentine's Day!

They love holding hands.  Although they were a little too quick for me to get a good picture!

They also held hands in the grocery store parking lot today.  And I must say, even as their mother, I thought it was adorable.  And so did everyone we passed.  Which seemed like a lot of people considering it was 4:00 on Valentine's Day.

Snow day

It snowed about an inch and a half last night. So we went outside to play.

They helped shovel the driveway.

And we learned about driving in winter weather conditions. Owen needs to work on keeping extra distance between the driver in front of him. He got into several fender benders. The insurance increase is going to be a nightmare.

I'm glad they went ahead and called off school. I don't know how anyone could possibly be expected to make it in safely when the roads are covered in an inch of snow!

Also Owen can't say snow, so he says nose. He just can't figure out where the s goes.

Not ready

I don't think any of us are ready for potty training, but Owen and Olivia have been showing some interest recently.   So, it was time to at least buy a potty for practice.  Here they are trying it out in the store today.

Bedtime Hugs

I've always encouraged them to hug at bedtime, but they've started doing it on their own!  Love them!

Lola and Owen had quite the good time playing this afternoon.  Lola may have met her match!

First, she got him in a headlock

But then he pinned her!  

Family Weekend

We spent the weekend with cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great grandparents!  Owen and Olivia had a great time.  Justin and I would have had more fun if the kids had slept all night, taken naps, and not cried almost the entire way in the car.  But - it was still great to see everyone!
