Weekend

We had a great weekend, with one obvious exception. Hope you too had a good one. Our snowy saturday kicked off with Lindsay's craving for breakfast casserole, which was awesome.

We went over to the Bakalar's to watch the KU game. We did have fun despite the outcome of the game. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Have a good week.

Prediction

I don't know how many of you caught The Office this week, but here's a little clip Lindsay and I loved. After we heard it, we looked at each other and busted up laughing.  (you might need to turn the volume up, it's pretty low)

Sugar rush

Lindsay survived part two of diabetes testing.  She has broken her 15 hour fast, and is in a much better mood.  We'll know results next week.

Full moon

I'm pretty sure baby girl Olivia was trying to moon me last night. I felt Lindsay's belly, and boom, felt a butt sticking out.  Seems like a strange thing to do, but hey, I'm not a fetus, what do I know.  I'm just glad that's not going on in my belly.

Planning Ahead

We've had a lot of questions from everyone about when these babies will arrive. Believe me, we have the same questions. We have received some varying opinions to everyone we meet throughout the medical community. A reminder before reading this, I am currently 29 weeks.

The nurse at the hospital said she hopes we make it to 30 weeks. Then she told us that babies born after 32 weeks usually don' t have to go to the NICU, just the special needs nursery. So, that's a good milestone as well. The nurse that does my weekly sonograms showed me pictures of twins born healthy and happy at 28 weeks. We finally asked the doctor, and while she seemed disappointed in the question, she told us that she would not attempt to stop labor after 34 weeks.

My sister thinks they will arrive before 34 weeks. My Dad thinks another Kokoruda March 31st birthday would be fun, but would probably prefer we make it through the NCAA tourney before they arrive(and how could I disagree with that!). We've had requests to work around some people's vacation's - we'll do our best!

I'd like to make it past the tourney (mostly to guarantee Justin's at home when it all goes down!), plus I'd like to get my temporary replacement fully trained at work. I think 34 weeks sound pretty good - I can't imagine how cranky I will be 5 weeks from now! But bottom line, and against my love for scheduling and calendars, we have no idea when they will arrive! I have started baby laundry, and hope to get my suitcase packed pretty soon so that we are prepared.

So, when do you think the babies will come? Make your pick to the right. (How's that for March Madness)  Prize for picking the correct date - a night alone with Owen and Olivia! Ha!

Happy Selection Sunday everyone! Have a great week!

Bump

Here's a new bump picture I took.

Lindsay and I road tripped over to Topeka for a brief lunch with my family. After lunch we went over to the Expocentre for the first half of the third place 5A state game.  You've got to support your alma mater.  But, we left at half because the hard seats didn't agree with Lindsay's new body type.  The game itself was pretty bad.

We got home just in time to do some baby budgeting, order pizza and watch KU disassemble K-State for the  third time this year.  So it was a good day.  At about half time Lindsay noticed that one of the babies was apparently unhappy within the confines of the womb, and was really trying to break out.  The bump was as lopsided as I've seen it so far.

Tomorrow we're off to Babies R Us to pick up a load of baby stuff.  I know Lindsay is psyched.

Failure

So Lindsay flunked part one of gestational diabetes test.

Here's my rant: Of the last 10 preggo's I've known, ALL of them have had gestational diabetes.  This tells me there's an issue with the level at which the medical community infers you are gestationally diabetic.  So now Lindsay gets to go about 11 hours without food, which could mean the end of civilization as we know it, for part two of the test.  The good news here is that the good Dr. says she has an 80% chance of passing the next test based on part one's results.  (This time Lindsay has committed to NOT exclusively eating marshmallows and Captain Crunch the night before.) [joke]  Also, somehow Lindsay didn't gain any weight this week, so when you see here, be sure to jam some food down her throat.

But seriously we're hoping everything comes out ok.

On a good note, big round of applause for March Madness kicking off this afternoon.  Go Hawks.

The Cow Bell

I've heard rumors of the cow bell before, but I had never actually seen it....until today.

I had my first Sonogram/Non Stress Test today, and I will have them weekly from now on. The purpose is to monitor the babies fluid, heartbeat, size, breathing and activity. Normally, both Owen and Olivia are very active during sonograms, to the point where it is difficult to measure them. But now that their actions are being counted, apparently they were not interested in performing. So, out comes the cow bell. The tech rings it right next to the babies heads. Both babies jumped a little, but then would go right back to sleep. Luckily, these sonograms take quite a awhile, so by the end, both babies were jumping for joy and both were graded well on their movements. By the time we got to the Non Stress Test, both babies moved so much that the test was done in no time. Both babies passed their tests with no other issues! We want them to continue passing these weekly tests, so that there is no need to deliver them too early!

I'm not sure if we posted weights after last weeks measurements, but Owen weighed in at 2 lb 1 oz, and Olivia at 2 lb 7 oz. They are looking great and we are happy to be celebrating the 3rd trimester!

Next on my medical agenda, the dreaded gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning.

Another weekend

Hope everyone's weekend was good.  I made it out to Colorado and back in one piece.  Lindsay didn't give birth, so at least I didn't miss it.

A short video from day 1 at Vail.

Here are some pictures from my trip.  I had a spectacular time, but I'm exhausted to no end.

The smallest cousins aren't quite so small anymore.

The look Mason gave me all night.

I don't think Lindsay's weekend was quite as snowy as mine.  Unfortunately she was struggling with some back pain.  She's feeling much better today than Friday, mostly cause I'm here.  I make everything better don't you know.

That's all for now.

If you're thinking of stealing my babies...

You can bet it won't be at the hospital. We went over to the hospital to do our pre-admission. Everything seems to be in order, in case Lindsay pops soon.

The one really weird thing was the security aspect. I'd never really thought about a good old-fashioned baby stealing, until this morning. The nurse went over all the different security measures they have in place. The babies will have about 12 different bracelets that track them and lock doors if they get too close. We apparently will also have some sort of bracelet that allows us access. In summary, don't even try it wise guy.

I also found out that I'll be traveling to cover K-State during the tournament. I'm of course hoping that Lindsay can hold out on having these things until after March Madness is over. (please don't tell CBS I used their copy righted March Madness term) But we will be keeping a close eye on things while I'm gone, should the Mildcats actually do well this year.

The first "anti-pregnancy" day

Well, I am sure I had a day or two early on where I was a pretty unhappy pregnant person, Sunday was the first day in quite some time that I was just plain cranky. I started my morning waking up too early. I grabbed my water from the nightstand to take a drink and drift back to sleep, and proceeded to dump the entire glass all over me and the bed. Needless to say, I was awake. I got changed and went downstairs to sit and watch Justin work on the ribs he was making for lunch and then he made me breakfast. I laid on the couch for awhile and watched Justin clean. It was as if I was completely incapable of doing anything. Justin even unloaded the clean silverware from the dishwasher - which he hates! As the evening rolled around, it was probably good that we had the week off from family dinner, because I mostly sat around and complained about how uncomfortable I was. Around 8:30, I finally asked Justin to help me get to bed, as there was no way I was getting out of my skinny jeans by myself! Plus, the bed needed some cleanup due to my morning spill. I imagine Justin went back downstairs and breathed a sigh of relief that I was finally in bed! That is, until I woke him up about 5 times last night trying to get comfortable! Thank goodness I have Justin! He let me be cranky, was supportive, and he still had a productive day!

I woke up this morning tired from a rough night, but determined to make this a better day than yesterday. So far, so good. But I am hoping for a very early bedtime!

There have been requests for more blog posts, so here ya go!

Tuesday Morning Update: I had a relaxing evening and plenty of sleep last night. Feeling much better!
